44 drug offenders complete reformation in Sibugay

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Oct 21 (PIA) -- A total of 44 drug offenders received training certificates after successful completion of reformation program during their Graduation Ceremony in Diplahan Balay Silangan Reformation Center, Zamboanga Sibugay Province recently.

"Giving second chance to 44 drug offenders is better than arresting and putting them to jail,” said Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Wilkins M. Villanueva.


The drug reformists underwent several trainings from the different stakeholders including the livelihood skills and/or programs from Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) that would enable them to get employment after their rehabilitation.

They have recuperated for three months inside the reformation center.

On the same graduation day, the Balay Silangan Center welcomed the 33 drug offenders, as 2nd batch to undergo reformation program.

Moreover, the local government unit of Diplahan town remains dedicated in helping their drug offenders and transforming them into self-sufficient and productive members of society by providing them a second chance in life.

The PDEA Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Office personnel together with PDEA RO IX Assistant Regional Director IAV Ralph Rommel D. Torres attended the Opening of Balay Silangan Reformation Center for the 2nd Batch, along with the Diplahan Mayor Hon. Eric Yap Palma, TESDA Provincial Director, PNP Deputy Provincial Director for Administration, DILG Provincial Director, Commanding Officer 44th IB PA and DTI Representative.
