PCSO, NGOs extend support to former rebels in Zambo Norte

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Nov. 2 (PIA) – Initiatives in the province following the "whole of nation" approach to end local communist armed conflict continues, especially with the support of the private sector.  

 

Former rebels (FRs) in the province benefitted from the series of assistance provided by the Rotary Club of Dipolog and Dapitan, in partnership with the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO)-Zamboanga del Norte and 97th Infantry "Kalasaglahi" Battalion (97th IB) held last October 24, 28 and 29. 




 The assistance includes distribution of gift packs on October 24, in commemoration of End Polio Awareness Month, as well as campaign on the different livelihood training programs of the government. 

 

Three FRs were successfully registered on October 28 for the 15-days training on Baking, Dressmaking and Welding that will be conducted by the Livelihood Skills Development and Enhancement Center in Galas, Dipolog City, which is headed by Flora Villa Atamosa, the center operation manager. 

 

Participants will receive P150 allowance per day, including free meals.

 

Additionally, 17 FRs, together with their dependents received gift packs and different variety of vegetable seedlings on October 29.
