SM donates P1-M worth of shoes to indigent people

ZAMBOANGA CITY, February 10 (PIA) -- The Operation Tulong Express of SM Foundation Inc. and the SM City Mindpro donated Php1 million worth of around 3,000 pairs of brand new shoes and 200 sanitizers to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-9 just this week.

The donations were intended to distribute to the identified vulnerable communities in the region and this served as their expression of affection to the indigent people who were mostly effected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We thank SM Foundation and The SM Store for this initiative as it can help more less fortunate people especially during this challenging times,” assistant mall manager Aileen Ann Enriquez said during the simple turn-over ceremony.

The SM Foundation Inc., the socio-civic arm of the SM Group of companies, stays true to its principle dubbed “People helping People” and has committed in assisting the government alleviating the lives of individuals.

“SM will continue to collaborate with DSWD in providing assistance to various communities, especially those that are beyond our reach,” Assistant Mall Manager Enriquez said.

Also in attendance during the ceremony were SM store representatives led by Branch Manager Lesley Wee, and DSWD-9 Regional Director Atty. Sittie Raifah Pamaloy-Hassan.
