Isabela City imposes stricter measures against COVID-19

ISABELA CITY, Basilan, Sept. 8 (PIA) – The local government of Isabela City de Basilan will impose stricter measures against COVID-19 in anticipation of Delta variant entry here.

 

Isabela City Inter-Agency Task Force against COVID-19 convened on Tuesday (Sept. 07) and discussed matters relative to the sudden spike of COVID-19 cases in the country especially in some regions which brought by the more infectious COVID-19 Delta variant.

 

The local task force approved four resolutions which will be implemented to strengthen its response and curb the spread of the virus in the city.

 

The IATF approved a resolution to consider requiring negative RT-PCR or antigen test result to incoming non-residents who are on business or official travel to Isabela City.

 

A resolution to impose stricter penalty to protocol transgressors was also approved.

 

The IATF also approved a resolution requiring public and private establishments within Isabela City to use the StaySafe Application. This app is also required to boost the city’s contact tracing program amid the rising number of COVID-19 cases.

 

In addition, a resolution to encourage government offices to review and improve their respective anti COVID-19 protocols was also approved.

 

Moreover, CDRRMO Uso Dan Salasim asked the security sector to fortify not just the land boundaries but also the coastal areas to prevent backdoor entry. 

 

As of September 7, Basilan IATF reported 21 active cases in the entire province of which 16 are in Isabela City. (RVC/EDT/NDR/PIA Basilan with reports from Isabela CDRRMO)
