The webinar offers an opportunity for participants in Zamboanga region to learn about the fairly new Philippine Competition Act (Republic Act No. 10667), and the mandate of its implementing agency Philippine Competition Commission

ZAMBOANGA CITY, September 21 (PIA) – The Philippine Competition Commission (PCC), in partnership with the City Government of Zamboanga, Regional Offices of National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), will hold an Online Regional Roadshow on Competition Law and Policy for the Zamboanga Peninsula Region on 22 September, 2021, Wednesday, at 1:30-4:30 p.m. via Microsoft Teams.

The webinar offers an opportunity for participants in Zamboanga region to learn about the fairly new Philippine Competition Act (Republic Act No. 10667), and the mandate of its implementing agency Philippine Competition Commission.

The session will focus on the relevance of the competition law to the local economy of western Mindanao, with an overview of competition and business landscape in the region.

“The competition law and policy may be fairly new in the Philippines, but the underlying concept of fairness and leveling of the playing field are established principles in the conduct of business. PCC’s regional roadshow will be informative and useful for businesses and consumers in navigating the movements in the region’s demand and supply of goods and services amid the pandemic,” said PCC Executive Director Kenneth V. Tanate.

As competition authority of the country, PCC promotes market competition and investigates anti-competitive mergers that result monopoly or elimination of emerging rivals in the market, anti-competitive agreements such as cartels and bid-riggings, and abuses of dominance among businesses. Attendees will also learn more about preventing or reporting business practices that are in violation of the PCA.

Attendance to the webinar is open to all and available for FREE. Registration is at or https://bit.ly/pccroadshow-zamboangapeninsula or https://tinyurl.com/pccroadshow-zamboangapeninsula. An email will be sent to the registered email address with the link to watch the event.
