Zambo City reimposes RT-PCR test due to Omicron threat

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Jan 10 (PIA) – Due to the threat of COVID-19 Omicron variant, starting Wednesday (January 12), Zamboanga City Local Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) will reimpose the RT-PCR test requirement for inbound travelers from areas with alert level 3 status or higher. 



The local IATF also emphasized that regardless of the vaccination status, a negative RT-PCR test result will be required and they may be subjected to random Rapid Antigen testing upon entry through the airport, seaport or land border. The IATF also reimposed that all inbound travelers should apply for an S-PaSS before entry.



Travelers who refuse to undergo the free random Rapid Antigen Test will be refused entry into Zamboanga City, while travelers who tested positive during the random Rapid Antigen Testing and those who manifest COVID-19 symptoms during symptoms checking at the point of entry, shall be placed in a government-quarantine facility, pending result of the confirmatory RT-PCR test.


Meanwhile, non-Zamboanga residents, who will be tested positive during random rapid antigen test and in the confirmatory RT-PCR test will undergo isolation in a government-accredited facility, at their own expense.


City Health Officer Dr. Dulce Miravite also clarified that the Zamboangueรฑo who was a close contact of an Omicron positive patient in Metro Manila is well and cleared. Dr. Miravite said the Zamboangueรฑo arrived in the city December 24 but had close contact with the Omicron patient last November 27.
