“Teenage pregnancy, although lowering in Zamboanga del Norte is still present, this is why we continue to exert efforts to advocate against this issue, with the support of different sectors,” Lugasan added.

“It is really part of our milestone to lower the teenage pregnancy rate in the city,” Lugasan said.

Moreover, aside from the advocacy on teenage pregnancy education for the youth, the Dipolog SK Federation also conducts other programs, projects and activities especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lugasan mentioned the youth movement donation drive, aiming to help who are stranded during the pandemic by distributing of health kits to SK council and roving in barangays joining the OPLAN SITA task force.

SK federation also values the mental health of the youth during the pandemic since they are one of the vulnerable sectors who were affected by the pandemic. The federation conducted “Quarantalk” or “Kumusta ka Kabaatan”, an online kamustahan talks about mental health.

All SK council are fully vaccinated and Lugasan also encourages all the youth to get vaccinated.

“The SK Federation in Zamboanga del Norte has been strongly advocating vaccination ‘to be safer’ from COVID-19. We participate as volunteers during the vaccination days, and will continue disseminating accurate information to encourage more to get vaccinated,” she added. (RVC/MLE/PIA9-Zamboanga City)
