PAGADIAN CITY, Feb. 14 (PIA)- Mayor Dexter Darel Uy of Dipolog city announced that the city recorded 188,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines during the start of the vaccination roll out last year.
At Laging Handa Network Briefing hosted by Bing Kimpo,
Uy who was the invited guest at the virtual briefing, informed the public of
the COVID-19 vaccination roll out of the local government unit.
Uy said as of February 13, almost 90% of the target
population in Dipolog has been given the second dose of vaccination or is fully
vaccinated. This has been achieved because people already have a positive
understanding of the benefits provided by the government’s vaccination
campaign.
Due to the development of the vaccination program, the
local chief executive also announced that pediatric vaccination of children
aged 5 to 11 years is scheduled on February 17 to ensure that the children are
also protected from the deadly virus.
The mayor also praised and thanked the sincere service
shown by the doctors, nurses, Barangay Health Workers and volunteers during the
nearly three-year fight of the national government against the virus that has
caused so much suffering of the people.
“With the help of our frontliners, we have achieved
the success of the COVID-19 vaccination in our city,” Uy concluded. (EDT/GCC/PIA-Zamboanga del Sur)
