Sulu is one of the riches fishing ground in the world says Gov. Tan

ISABELA CITY, Basilan, September 14 (PIA) – Governor Abdusakur Tan underscored that Sulu is one of the riches fishing ground in the country.

 

During the Laging Handa Network Briefing hosted by PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar this morning, Gov. Tan featured that Sulu is one of the riches fishing ground in the country and perhaps throughout the world due to its amusing marine resources that also supports the fishing industry. 

 

“Ang daming isda sa Sulu Sea. Hindi na natin kailangang pumunta pa sa Celebes Sea”, he said as he stressed that wide range of marine fishes in the Philippines are from Sulu. 

 

Governor Tan also highlighted that Sulu also contributes to the production of sardines noting that almost all sardines in the Philippines are from Sulu. 

 

“Yong mga tuna sa Gensan ay galing ng Sulu yun kaso nadadala doon kaya ang alam ng tao ay sa Gensan pero dito yan nangingisda ang mga fishing vessels nila”, he emphasized.

 

Furthermore, Governor Tan added that the Province of Sulu is also one of the best producers of carrageenan. He said that the processed form of seaweed, the high-valued carrageenan is sold locally and also exported to other countries.  (NBE/NDR/PIA Basilan)
